Strauss Scholarship Presentation
Last year, eHealth Nigeria received the Donald A. Strauss Scholarship. The Donald A. Strauss Public Service Scholarship Foundation was created as a memorial to the late Don Strauss, who demonstrated a strong, lifelong commitment to public service and education. The Foundation annually awards $10,000 scholarships to no fewer than 14 California college juniors who’ve reflected a similar commitment.
On April 15th, all of the Strauss scholarship recipients gathered at the University of California, Irvine, to give a presentation on their work. The students did projects on a range of topics including education, health, community mapping, and advocacy. Visit the Strauss website to see descriptions of each of the projects below:
- James Chu: The ValuEd Project – Helping Migrant Students Explore New Life
- Daniel Low: HIV/AIDS Peer Education in Babati, Tanzania
- Anne Freitas: Building Confidence and Breaking Down Barriers
- Johnathan Wang: Map Delft, Community Building Through Participatory Map Making
- Alison Jebrock: Empowering Detained Undocumented Youth
- Montae Langston: High Education Summit
- Evelyn Castle: eHealth Nigeria
- Rick Barlow: Empowerment Through Education

I would like to give a big thank you to the Strauss Foundation and their Board of Trustees for awarding eHealth Nigeria their scholarship. It gave us the ability to do some great projects and work with some wonderful people.
